Many assumed that when Juan Pablo Montoya turned down Andretti Autosport's IndyCar offer, he did so because he was ready to accept Barney Visser's #78 Furniture Row NASCAR offer. In reality, it was because he had the best offer in the room. Yes, Juan Pablo is now a member of the Penske Racing stable. He joins Helio Castroneves and Will Power. Sponsorship to be announced shortly.

Wow nice! Although in my mind I was imagining a reunitment with Ganassi and the iconic Target car

Definitely an out of nowhere move...or maybe not. It does seem like the ultimate "HA!" move to make. Kind of tears me though, JPM is how I got into open wheel racing back in the late 90s, and he was "my first" F1 driver, and honestly the only reason I've watched much NASCAR. I've been a Ganassi fan, but now...lets see, I strongly dislike Penske...hmm.

Interesting choice for both sides. I hope can deliver the goods. I've always kind of liked JPM. He has personality, keeps it in perspective while still being awfully fast.

Penske can't get Allmandinger.... gets JPM. That's sweet. Now get rid of Helio.

Good move for both parties. Now Montoya can drive for, arguably, the best team in the series where he has had the most success. This is in contrast to being a mid-pack driver on a mid-pack team in NASCAR Cup. I feel that Ganassi hurt Montoya's chances at a good career in stock cars by not making him run a year or two in the Nationwide series before entering Cup. Jason Leffler, Casey Mears, David Stremme, Reed Sorenson, Dario Franchitti, and now Montoya have all had their stock car racing careers suffer because Ganassi put them in Cup too early. I fear the same thing will happen to Kyle Larson.

Helio's about to win a championship
